World Alternative Games (2)

This year the World Alternative Games are back and better than ever. From August 8 to 25, Llanwrtyd will be bustling with thousands of spectators and competitors, all ready to enjoy some truly ridiculous sports. There are competitions for every kind of athlete (and non-athlete). Swimmers can take part in unusual games like Underwater Hockey while fans of fencing might like to try Finger Jousting. For couples, there are the races of "wife carrying" and "husband dragging." Women and men can put on their highest heels for the stiletto race.

In the popular event "worm charming," players compete to see who can summon the most worms up from the ground. Those who don't mind getting a little messy can sign up for gravy wrestling. Kids can join in the fun with a Rock, Paper, Scissors competition. And if the silly sports aren't fun enough, there are prizes for the fanciest costumes, too!

More than 60 events have been planned for this year's World Alternative Games. It's a time for people from all over the world to gather and celebrate good fun and the satisfaction of a game well played.
