Keep your fitness on the right track when the mercury [temperature] drops:
Stay hydrated
"People tend to associate dehydration with hot weather," says Andy Fry, a fitness expert at Indiana University. But during the winter months, parts of the U.S. can be as dry as the Sahara desert, so drink up.
Dress smart
If you're exercising outdoors, wear several light layers to trap warm air close to your body. A good combination would be a windproof outer layer with cotton layers underneath.
Warm up
Low temperatures increase the risk of sprains, making a good warm-up especially important.
Assess the weather
Fry says rain, wind, sunset and sunrise all affect the temperature, so take these into consideration when leaving the house. Fry suggests leaving into the wind and coming back with it.
Avoid winter blues
People exercise more when they're having fun, but winter is dark and cold. So "if bundling up isn't your style, try an indoor activity like a group exercise session or ballroom dancing," Fry says. "The important thing is to stay active."

Try these tips to study smart
Some students can’t wait to hit the books. Others wish they could be doing anything else. For students, studying can’t be avoided. But study time doesn’t have to be a pain. Here are some ways to make it more useful.
- Rather than memorize a lot of information at one time, break it up. If you must learn a long list of words, learn five or six at a time. Then review them before learning the next six.
- Do you always study in the same place? Try a new location. Research shows that studying the same thing in different places helps you remember it better. Each time you change locations, your brain forms new associations with the material.
- You remember information better when you write it by hand. Typing will not profit you in the same way. Write things that you want to remember down on a piece of paper.
What are the four major language roots that make English what it is today?
Well first and foremost is the GermanicAnglo-Saxon language, the earliest form of English. The other three are French, Latin and Greek. The mixture of these four languages helped to create English’s rich vocabulary, but they create some confusion too.
Yes, like when we encounter an Anglo-Saxon based English word that has lost its Anglo-Saxon adjectival form. For example, the noun finger, what’s its adjectival form? Fingerly, or fingerish? No, it’s the Latin based word digital.
Here are a few word pairs of Anglo-Saxon nouns with their Latin based adjectives, water and aquatic, house and domestic, moon and lunar.
Looking at these two words, moon and lunar you would not think that they’re related but they are. I’m sorry, more headaches for you English learners.
Okay now there are certain Anglo-Saxon adjectives that have survived with these and Latin based adjectives both exist, we have a choice. For instance, with the noun mother, we can choose either the Anglo-Saxon based motherly or the Latin based maternal.
Umm, for the noun book we also have a choice between the adjectives bookish and literary.

Save Money by Saving Water
A few simple ways to reduce your water bill
Your water bill came in the mail, and it is high! What can you do to lower it?
The power of showers
Take a shower, not a bath. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that 113.6 liters of water fill up half a bathtub. The average shower uses about 8 liters per minute. So shower in five minutes and save!
Stop leaks
Check your faucets and your toilet for leaks. Even a small faucet leak can waste 700 to 950 liters of water every month! Add a few drops of food coloring to your toilet tank, and wait 15 minutes. If the food coloring appears in the bowl before you flush, you have a leak.
Don’t let water run
Instead of running the water when washing your face, fill the sink with water. When you’re washing dishes, fill a bowl with soapy water. After washing the dishes in the bowl, rinse them with running water. Also wash fruit and vegetables in a bowl.When it comes to saving water, small changes can have a big impact.

Let’s go for a quick swim in the pool. Okay, when bathing is mentioned nowadays, it usually refers to sunbathing, which is sitting or lying out in the sun in order to get a suntan. For example, I might say, “It’s so nice out. I think outgo sunbathing in the park.”

What’s Your Name Again?
How to remember people’s names
You see a familiar face across the room. You smile, wave... and draw a blank. What is that person's name? Forgetting someone's name is embarrassing. Whether it's for business or friendship, remembering someone's name makes the person feel important.
But how can you remember names? A man named Benjamin Levy wrote a book called Remember Every Name Every Time. He tells people to use the FACE method: Focus, ask, comment and employ.
Focus: Really look at the person's face.
Ask: Ask about the name. "Do you prefer Dave or David?"
Comment: Say something about the name. "I have an uncle named David."
Employ: Use the name right away. "Where do you work, David?"
Repeating a name helps, too. Say it in your head and out loud. "It's nice to meet you, David."
But if you do forget, don't be embarrassed to ask again. Say something nice first. "I've had a great time conversing with you. But I'm afraid I've forgotten your name."
Then when you hear it again, try these tips to remember it!

How to Save Money
Creative ways to put more money in your bank account
Are you eager to save money? Many people are. Here are a few simple ways to do that and still enjoy life!
Drink more water
Instead of buying tea or coffee with a meal, drink water. Water is better for your health, and drinking it saves you money.
Don't go out to eat
Perhaps you enjoy hosting parties. Invite your friends over to your house instead of a restaurant. You can have a potluck and play games. It is an ideal way to have fun, but at a lower cost.
Keep your change
Put all of your loose change in a jar. If you set aside just US$5 a week, you can save lots of money over time. Once in a while, deposit the change in the bank.
Know how much you spend
How much money do you spend every week? Don't know? Track your spending. You can use a finance-tracking app like BUDGET. Learnvest or Mint. Then you will know how much money you can spend. If you don't have the cash, don't buy something.
Make small changes in your life, and watch your money grow.

Tips to spend less on your trips
These days when you go on vacation, you spend most of your money just getting to your destination! Travel is expensive, but don't stay home due to a small budget! Here are some ways you can cut costs and still enjoy a trip:
* Travel during off-season if possible. Flights and hotels are significantly cheaper when tourism is low.
* Choose a hotel that's a little farther from popular attractions. If you're staying several days, check out prices on hostels or vacation homes - both can end up being cheaper than a hotel in the long run.
* Look for deals on metro or subway passes for your destination. A day pass will pay for itself if you use mass transportation instead of taking cabs.
* Plan your meals, and eat like a local. Don't waste money at expensive hotel restaurants or fast-food chains. Depending on where you stay, it may be cheaper to buy your own groceries.
* Check online for special rates - if you're a student, a senior citizen, or traveling with children, you could qualify for discounts! A little research could save you a lot of money.
Whether you're backpacking alone or going on a family vacation, your trip doesn't have to break the bank. The key is to plan ahead and track what you spend. Then put the money you save toward your next trip!
